This book is an ongoing collection of photographs taken over the last decade while traveling around the continental United States. Sometimes the trips were for work & some were my own personal discoveries. During all of it, I wanted to document what I was experiencing and to show where I was with the same sense of grandeur, curiosity, or humor that I happened to find before me. This is the first time that I've stopped to pull together all the images from those trips and present them as one body of work. It's been fulfilling, but a surprisingly difficult task, trying to step back from my photos & the experiences that went along with them and see these past years collected into a single idea.
Between Both Shores.... is my look at who & what we are as a country... From Seattle to The Florida Keys, From Maine to the Salton Sea, it's been an interesting journey exploring our geography, nature, architecture, cultures, religion, politics, and life... There truly is a lot of diversity in this country, and I hope I'm able to show what I've experienced in a way that will intrigue you as much as it has me over the years. Thanks a lot, Stew
