Über das Buch
The year 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the May 18, 1980 eruption. That eruption changed the landscape of southwest Washington and how we look at the volcanoes that make up the Cascade mountains of western North America. This book is a compilation of 150 photos, all except 3, that I've taken around Mount St. Helens, Washington. The earliest photos are from 1969 when people first walked on the moon. Included are comparison photos taken in the 1980's and again in 2009 that show the striking changes taking place. These changes include not only the dome growth in the crater, but vegetation changes in the blast zone. The landscape around Mount St Helens is ever changing, this books does an excellent job of illustrating the evolution of the landscape around the mountain. It also captures the spirit of the landscape. It is an uncommon opportunity to witness a landscape in transition. Mount St Helens is an amazing area that can be explored in person, or now in your armchair thru my photos of the place I so very fascinating.

I love exploring the Mount St Helens region, riding my mountain bike, hiking. The 1980 eruption was the second volcanic eruption I have witnessed.
